Terminando el 2005 publicaron un disco con canciones en vivo llamado Live - Friday The 13th el cual fue grabado en mayo del 2005 en Santa Barbara, California por el cual ganaron el premio Grammy por Mejor Performance Pop por un D煤o o Grupo con Vocal en el 2006. Origen El instituto Brentwood High School en Los Angeles, para luego formar Kara"s Flowers, una banda de garage/grunge que tuvo su primera presentaci贸n en el Whisky a go-go el 16 de septiembre de 1995 (Adam Levine cantaba con una profunda voz de "grunge" en ese tiempo). La banda firm贸 un contrato con Reprise Records mientras a煤n estaban en la escuela preparatoria y lanzaron su 煤nico 谩lbum The Fourth World a mediados de 1997 solo tres de los cuatro miembros estaban cerca de graduarse (Ryan Dusick quien estaba completando su segundo a帽o en la UCLA). hicieron un v铆deo para la canci贸n de apertura "Soap Disco", pero este no tuvo 茅xito en MTV. A pesar de ser los teloneros en giras con Reel Big Fish y Goldfinger el 谩lbum fracas贸 al salir al mercado. En 1999 la banda se separ贸 de Reprise Records. (Debido a su pr贸xima popularidad de Maroon 5, m谩s copias de The Fourth World se vendieron despu茅s del lanzamiento de Songs About Jane que durante los a帽os anteriores). Luego de ser lanzado por Reprise Records, los cuatro j贸venes asistieron a diferentes universidades de Estados Unidos. Formaci贸n de Maroon 5 Cuando Valentine se uni贸 a Kara"s Flowers en el 2001, la banda adopt贸 el nombre de Maroon, cambi谩ndolo pocos meses despu茅s a Maroon 5 debido a un conflicto de nombre. La banda hizo presentaciones promocionales en la ciudad de New York y Los Angeles. Adam Levine reconoci贸 en el per铆odo intermedio la influencia de nuevos estilos en la banda en una entrevista de VH1: "Durante el tiempo entre nuestras negociaciones del disco pase mucho tiempo en N.Y, donde estuve expuesto a la cultura urbana y hip-hop de una forma que nunca me hab铆a pasado en L.A. Songs About Jane El grupo grab贸 Songs About Jane con Rumbo Recorders en Los 脕ngeles con el productor Matt Wallace, quien tambi茅n hab铆a producido para Train, Blues Traveler, Kyle Riabko, y Third Eye Blind. Gran parte del material que hab铆a ganado el 谩lbum debut de Maroon 5 estaba directamente inspirado en las tumultuosas relaciones de Levine con su ex-novia Jane; "Nosotros terminamos cuando la banda entr贸 al estudio", 茅l explic贸 (Adam Levine): "Despu茅s de una complicada lista de canciones, nosotros decidimos que el nombre del 谩lbum ser铆a Songs About Jane porque se sent铆a como la declaraci贸n m谩s honesta que pod铆amos hacer con el t铆tulo". It Won"t Be Soon Before Long En marzo de 2007, la Revista Billboard y otros medios similares, reportaron que Maroon 5 estaba listo para lanzar su segundo 谩lbum It Won"t Be Soon Before Long (A&M/Octone Records) en un estreno mundial el d铆a Mayo 22 de 2007. De Acuerdo con Adam Levine, este nuevo disco, sucesor de su anterior y exitoso 谩lbum Songs About Jane, ser谩 "mucho m谩s sexy y fuerte", teniendo como inspiraci贸n artistas de los 80 como Prince, Shabba Ranks, Michael Jackson y Talking Heads. El tiempo de grabaci贸n del disco tom贸 desde noviembre del 2005 hasta su finalizaci贸n a mediados de Septiembre del 2006.
